By Dustin Schuler, Marketing Director, Bud Clary Auto Group
Reviewed October 2026 | About Dustin
Is your Chevrolet a 2024 or newer model you bought or leased new within the past year? If so, Chevrolet covers its first maintenance visit: a fresh oil and filter, a four-tire rotation timed to your maintenance schedule, and a Multi-Point Vehicle Inspection. It has to happen within the first 12 months of ownership. Book it with the Bud Clary Chevrolet service department on Commerce Avenue, open Saturdays 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM for anyone who can't get away on a weekday.

What the covered visit includes
The services depend on what powers your Chevrolet. This is how Chevrolet lists them in October 2026.

| Electric | Tire rotation (all four) and a Multi-Point Vehicle Inspection | Air filters |

Source: Chevrolet Covered Maintenance, checked October 2026. Eligibility, per Chevrolet's disclaimer: new owners and lessees of model year 2024 and later vehicles, within the first year, at an eligible participating Chevrolet, Buick or GMC dealership.
Who qualifies
Bought a 2024 or newer Chevy secondhand? Chevrolet's terms are written for new owners and lessees, so call us at (360) 423-1700 before booking it as a covered visit. Any used vehicle bought from Bud Clary already includes 2 oil changes and 2 tire rotations of its own.
- It was new when you bought or leased it
- It is a 2024 model year or newer
- Fewer than 12 months have passed since you took ownership (Corvette: 24)
- It is your one covered visit; Chevrolet does not cover a second
Timing it around how you drive
Chevrolet's oil life system, on GM vehicles since 2004, estimates how long the oil will last from how the vehicle is used. When CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON comes on, Chevrolet says to have the oil changed within the next 600 miles, and the oil and filter must be changed at least once a year even if the message never appears.
Commuting I-5 to Vancouver or Portland every day piles on highway miles, so the message may come well before your first year is out. If your Chevy mostly makes short runs around Longview and Kelso, it may not show up in year one at all, and the 12-month limit becomes the date that matters. Set a reminder for month ten or eleven so the visit doesn't lapse.
Connected Access, which Chevrolet includes for 10 years on new models, adds Dealer Maintenance Notifications and a monthly Vehicle Diagnostics Report, so the nudge can come to you. More on our OnStar page.
Live in Rainier, Clatskanie or St. Helens?
Chevrolet's terms name an eligible participating Chevrolet, Buick or GMC dealership, not the store that sold the vehicle. If you bought here as an Oregon resident (our Oregon buyers guide explains how that works), Longview is a short drive back over the Lewis and Clark Bridge, and Saturday service hours help if you work weekdays across the river.
After the covered visit
Once the covered visit is used, oil changes are regular maintenance. Our oil change page covers what your engine takes, and the ClaryCare package on our service specials page bundles three more oil changes, tire rotations and multi-point inspections, or rotations and inspections only on a new EV.
Driving a Duramax? Fuel filter intervals, DEF warnings and particulate filter care are on our Duramax diesel service page.

Frequently asked questions
Does a new Chevy come with a free first oil change?
Yes, in effect. On 2024 and newer models the first maintenance visit is on Chevrolet if you use it in the first 12 months of ownership, and it includes the oil and filter, a 4-tire rotation and a Multi-Point Vehicle Inspection.
What isn't covered on the Chevy first maintenance visit?
Air filters are excluded, and so is anything beyond the listed services. Chevrolet covers one visit, not a series.
Does the first maintenance visit apply to a leased Chevrolet?
Yes. Lessees of 2024 and newer Chevrolets qualify the same way buyers do, within the first 12 months.
Can I use the covered visit at a different Chevy dealer?
Chevrolet only requires an eligible participating Chevrolet, Buick or GMC dealership, so the store that sold it isn't the only option.
Is there a first maintenance visit for a Chevy EV?
Yes, for 2024 and newer EVs, within the first 12 months: Chevrolet covers rotating all four tires and a Multi-Point Vehicle Inspection. There's no oil to change.
Does my Duramax get DEF on the first visit?
Yes. Diesel models get up to 4 gallons of ACDelco Diesel Exhaust Fluid topped off during the covered visit, in addition to the oil change, rotation and inspection.
